Company Growth in Switzerland: 13,828 New Firms in Q2 2025
Switzerland Registers 13,828 New Companies in Q2 2025 – Business Activity Remains Strong
Switzerland’s entrepreneurial landscape continues to grow steadily. According to the latest report by HELP.ch, the country recorded 13,828 new company formations in the second quarter of 2025. This marks a slight but notable increase over previous periods, reinforcing Switzerland’s position as a robust and innovation-driven economy.
In June 2025 alone, the commercial register saw 4,697 new entries, which is 3% more than in May and 2% more than in the same month last year. It represents the third-highest monthly result in the past six months — a clear signal of business optimism despite economic uncertainties in certain industries.

More Deletions, but No Alarming Trend
While company formations increased, deletions also rose in June 2025. A total of 3,096 companies were removed from the commercial register — 7% more than in May. This is not unusual: in recent years, June has often shown a seasonal peak in company deletions, typically due to fiscal year-end processes, liquidations, or strategic restructuring.
Despite the uptick, experts see no cause for concern. The net growth remains positive, and the overall number of active firms continues to expand.
Corporate Mutations Reflect Economic Agility
Alongside new entries and deletions, the number of mutations — i.e. changes to existing business records — reached 17,630 in June. This represents a 5% increase from May and reflects healthy activity among established companies.
These updates include changes in company management, legal form, registered office, or share capital. They are a clear indicator of business adaptation and internal restructuring — both signs of a living, responsive economy.
In contrast, the number of company liquidations remained stable: 2,047 businesses officially ceased operations in June, up only 0.2% from May.
Liechtenstein: A Different Pattern
In Liechtenstein, the trend was mixed. 57 new companies were added to the registry in June — a 10% increase. At the same time, the number of deletions dropped to 79 (down 10%) and mutations fell by 20% to 491.
This shift could indicate a cooling-off phase following an active spring period. More details are available at www.firmenbuch.li.
