Swiss Internet Governance Forum: Shaping Switzerland’s Digital Future

Swiss IGF: A National Dialogue Platform for Switzerland’s Digital Future

In today’s digital age, governance of the internet is more crucial than ever. The Swiss Internet Governance Forum (Swiss IGF) offers a unique, inclusive space where stakeholders across all sectors of Swiss society come together to shape the future of the digital world.

Open, Inclusive, and Bottom-Up

What makes the Swiss IGF so impactful is its open nature – anyone interested can participate, and there are no registration fees. It embraces a bottom-up process, meaning the topics are defined by the community itself, and no subject is off limits. Whether it's cybersecurity, AI regulation, social media or digital human rights – everything is up for discussion.

Now Backed by a New Association

As of March 2025, the Swiss IGF has been institutionalized through the formation of a new non-profit association, Swiss Internet & Digital Governance (SIDG), based in Zurich. This change replaces the previous structure with a formal board and general assembly. The aim: to provide a stable, transparent, and participatory foundation for the continued success of the Swiss IGF.

Participation remains open to everyone, but becoming a member of the SIDG association offers additional benefits, including voting rights and eligibility for board positions. Importantly, membership remains free of charge for now.

HELP Media AG Joins the Conversation

On the same day this change was announced, HELP Media AG joined SIDG as a new member. The company’s CEO, Andy Rauch, also contributed a topic to the 2025 Call for Issues, with a strong focus on SMEs:

Digital visibility of Swiss SMEs: How can we ensure discoverability without becoming overly dependent on dominant platforms?

“I’m excited to contribute from an SME perspective. Independent platforms and visibility for Swiss businesses are key topics close to my heart.”
Andy Rauch, HELP Media AG

This underlines Swiss IGF’s relevance for small and medium-sized enterprises - and Swiss startups - which often lack the visibility of larger players in the online space.

International Impact, Local Presence

Swiss IGF is Switzerland’s national contribution to the global United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN IGF), and it is also connected to EuroDIG, the European Dialogue on Internet Governance. These connections ensure that Switzerland's voice is heard internationally – while maintaining a clear local focus.
